In Progress

Laying Down the Foundation

For the first sitting, I covered the whole canvas with thin paint and then roughly sketched some trees and houses. At this stage, I still did not have the slightest idea of how the final image would look like, although, definitely, it was going to be a landscape.

A forest it is.

After the first coating dried up, I began putting in trees and more trees, and defined the shapes of the houses. I also added some rocks on the river bed, although I am not sure whether I really want them there. Well, I can always paint over them later if they don't fit in the composition. That's the beauty of oil painting; it accomodates one's ficklemindedness.
